What to expect

what-to-expectOur first visit will be between 60 and 90 minutes. The cost is $345. During that time, I will ask a lot of questions and review the forms you have filled out for me, as well as records you may have brought with you. This is the visit that lets me understand what your body is telling us and decide what diagnostic tests are necessary, if any. I may do a cursory physical exam and I may suggest a supplement or lifestyle addition; but for the most part, please view this visit as the beginning of much more in-depth work to come.

Follow-up visits are 30-60 minutes each and the cost is $160 to $225 – longer at the beginning of treatment and shorter as your symptoms improve and you become more educated on what to expect and how to read your own body. You can expect our second and third visits to be 3-4 weeks apart. As time lapses and you experience improvements in your symptoms, our visits will be less frequent. I tend to be conservative and not schedule patients too often, so we can allow time for the changes we have initiated to have a noticeable effect.

Will your insurance cover my visits?

At our clinic, we collect payment at the time of the visit, or CC information at the time you make a phone appointment. We accept cash, check and credit cards. We will, if you request, provide an invoice with your diagnostic code so you can bill your insurance. In California, it is our experience that some insurance carriers and PPO’s will reimburse for our services, but not HMO’s. Please check with your insurance carrier. Health Saving Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts will cover visits and supplements prescribed at our practice.

What other expenses can you expect?

Laboratory tests may be part of your initial expense.  Please be aware that you pay lab charges directly to the lab.  We have no financial gain and we recommend only those tests than can offer clean insight  to individualize your diagnosis and treatment.  Over time your main expense will be supplements. The more you can do in terms of diet and lifestyle changes, the fewer supplements you may need, but consider your investment in supplements as the building blocks for the repairs that your body needs. Just as you could not do a home remodeling without materials; changing the chemistry and organ function of your body will require quality nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals, amino acids, herbs, hormones, and homeopathics or German biological medicines.

What makes the nutritional supplements in your practice exceptional?

When I started my medical education, it was very difficult to find natural supplements. Not only the Internet did not exist, but there were very few companies producing them. It was easy to separate the diamonds from the chaff. Today there is a proliferation of supplement companies and many of them have no idea how to produce an effective product. They may have great marketing (and often spend more on marketing than on research), but their products are of either low or inconsistent quality.
In our clinic we use practitioner supplement lines, created by doctors for doctors. Often I have already visited their facilities and I consistently receive quality reviews of the products. We know where the raw materials come from and how they are manufactured. Not only in terms of quality, but also in terms of potency and how well they are prepared for maximum absorption. I spend dozens of hours each month reviewing supplements and reading research. You can say I am quite obsessed by it. And it is this regard to the tools I use in my practice that make them so much more potent and bring dramatic results. I do not use multi-level marketing products and I do not immediately incorporate the last “fad” into my repertoire. I base my choices in research and clinical experience. I this is what you are interested in, then (and only then) I am the doctor for you!
